LM Workspace

A workspace I’m building at Legal Machines to keep a legal matter’s documents, research and AI work together on the lawyer’s own computer. Currently in beta.

A legal matter often starts with a folder. LM Workspace uses that existing folder as the project, keeping documents, context, AI conversations, research and saved work together. The project’s documents and records are stored locally.

I want the useful result to survive the conversation: a draft, a research note or an analysis that can be kept, checked and used. That means keeping track of sources and changes, and making it possible to see how a result was reached.

We’re building it to work with both local models and models from external providers. The lawyer should be able to inspect what is sent outside the computer and approve changes to actual files.

The problem I want to solve is the time and attention lost moving material between tools, repeating context and reconstructing earlier work. I’d like a lawyer to spend more of that effort on understanding the matter and deciding what to do. The workspace is in beta, and there is still work to do.
